AST 1

The AST 1 is the gold standard 2-day introductory course with curriculum developed by Avalanche Canada. The textbook was co-authored by your instructor Keith!

AST 2+

The Avalanche Skills Training Level 2 Course will provide an intermediate to advanced level decision-making framework that includes multiple days in the field. Also new for 2022-23, all courses include season-long mentorship. The prerequisite for this course is the AST 1.

Hilda Lodge AST 2++

People revere the terrain at Hilda. Price includes: 1 night in Nakusp and 7 nights at Hilda. You get a five day AST2 Course, three days of self-guided touring in small groups, and mentorship during the entire winter season (November - April).

AST REFRESHER+

New for 2022-2023: The new AST Refresher Curriculum + season-long mentorship.  This means that you will participate in a season-long course going from November – April. Every month the group will meet via Zoom to discuss the current snowpack, techniques for managing risk, and aspects of the AST Refresher curriculum, so that the learning sticks rather than being forgotten after your course is completed.
