Companion Rescue Skills (CRS) is a one-day intermediate-advanced course on using transceivers, probes, and shovels. It can be taken to raise your CRS to a higher level and/or can be used as a refresher. It will also teach you how to respond as a leader in avalanche search and rescue situations. Prerequisite is either AST1 or AST2 or equivalent training (check with the instructor). Your course starts at 8:00 a.m. at Seven Summits Centre for Learning, 2110 1st Avenue, Rossland. Price of $150 includes 1 full day of instruction. We review skills in the classroom before heading out to spend the rest of the day in the snow. Managing Avalanche Terrain (MAT) is a one-day refresher on decision-making in avalanche terrain. It will refresh the skills you learned on your AST1 or AST2 course. The MAT is a very focused field-based course designed to expand on terrain management and will help you mitigate your risk by honing your travel skills. We start at 8:00 a.m. at Seven Summits Centre for Learning, 2110 1st Avenue, Rossland. We spend a day out touring in the Rossland or Selkirk Range. Price of $150 includes 1 full day of instruction.
